12 months

Okay, so Aidan's birthday was like over 2 weeks ago now, but with the move, and no internet, and having just returned from a 5 day trip to Pennsylvania, I am just now getting around to writing this little update.

Aidan is growing up so fast and learning lots of new things. He understands most of what I tell him, but he still does not say a whole lot. He has learned to sign "all done" and "more", although sometimes he gets them confused.

Aidan loves to copy everything we do and is still super fascinated with phones. He is always putting random objects up to his ear and saying "hi".  He likes to blow on his food when it is hot, he will stick out his tongue if you ask him where his tongue is, he loves dogs, and he is learning to climb stairs pretty well. Aidan is adjusting to his new house and really loves to walk around everywhere and explore.

At his 1 year checkup he weighed 20 lbs. 12 ounces (23rd percentile) and was 30. 5 inches long ( 75th percentile). He is still our growing little boy.

Back Again

It has been a really long time since writing on here and much has happened. We bought a house, moved, and Aidan had his 1st birthday. While I am still waiting to upload some pictures I thought I would at least post a few from a couple weeks before our move.

We had a lovely picnic supper at a park with some friends a few weeks back.

Aidan's first time on a slide. He loved it!

Nathan (my brother), Sarah, and Xan (nephew) were in town from PEI, Canada for a couple weeks in March. While they were here we celebrated the boys 1st birthdays (Xan-Jan. 28th, Aidan-April 4th).

Aidan loved eating his cupcake!

We love our big boy!

We also enjoyed a visit from Aidan's Great Grandparents (Sizemores).

Great Grandpa feeding Aidan while he plays with Great Grandma's nose

Piggy-back rides with  Aunt Steph

Grandpa attempting to read to the boys

My nephew Xan

Four generations of Sizemores

My dad and his two grandsons

Happy baby!

Well, that sums up the weeks leading up to our big move. New pictures still to come!

Little friends.

It is not unusual these days to hear little sweet noises coming from Aidan's room after he awakes these days. Instead of standing up and yelling for us, he sits happily and visits with his little stuffed friends. He has four of them in his crib at all times: puppy, Bungle (his beloved monkey), giraffe, and lamb. If I walk in quietly without him hearing me I get to observe his little conversations. He talks quietly while looking at them one by one, hugging each of them and sometime laying down on them and sucking his thumb. The other day, after a longer than normal nap, I went in to get him, but when I picked him up he sat back down and reached for his lamb. He had not had time to love on his animals and was not ready for me to get him quite yet. How sweet he is sometimes!

11 months

I am always a day behind it seems. Last night was filled with craziness as Seth and I attempted to take apart Aidan's old crib and put together his new one while Aidan marched around eating styrofoam and throwing his books in the trash.

Aidan has really grown up this past month. He is now walking all over the place. He only crawls when he falls over and needs to find a way to get back up again. He still hasn't figured out how to get up from the center of the room yet, but can pick up objects off the floor while standing. Aidan has started to say a few new words lately. His two favorites are "dog" and "duck"....these tend to sound more like "gog" and "du", but he knows what they stand for at least. He just started clapping his hands and he loves to swing his arms around excitedly while he walks.

Aidan loves to eat! I am giving him a lot more of our food now, but he just wants to eat all the time. He especially loves bread and applesauce right now.

He is really into reading books and has quite a long attention span for his age when he is being read to. He has started to learn how toys work and spends a lot more time looking intently at things and trying to figure them out. He is so cute to watch.

Aidan continues to love anything electronic and cries for the remote control, phone, and video camera. He also loves to put everything in his mouth right now as he is working on a couple more teeth.

He is such a joy and so fun to have around. We love to watch him grow and learn new things each day.

Sledding!

On Saturday we woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow and it ended up snowing all morning too. Since Aidan has been sick almost every time it has snowed he has never been out in it, so we thought this was a perfect chance to make some memories. We bundled him up and took him sledding. He seemed to really enjoy it even though he did face-plant in the snow a few times. He was all smiles and so happy. What a little trooper!

Today.

Today is just one of those days that makes me feel so free.

Maybe it's my new devotion to carving out more time to spend with the Lord, to sit still in His presence.

Maybe it's the special time of cuddling I had with Aidan. Or his smiles, or laughs, or just plain sweet personality.

Maybe it was pushing Aidan in the swing and watching his face light up. Or going down the slide with him.

Maybe it was the fresh air on my face as I jogged and pushed the stroller.

Maybe it is recognizing the importance of slowing down and spending my time more carefully.

Or maybe it is just realizing how wonderful it is to spend the whole day with such an adorable and precious blessing from the Lord.

Thank You for today.

About Us...

Stole this survey from someone and wanted to post it on Valentine's Day, but didn't have a chance to.

Just for fun!

What are your middle names? Doug and Renee

How long have you been together? Since January 10, 2005, married since January 20, 2007.

How long did you know each other before you started dating?
We officially met our second semester of our freshman year and it was exactly a year later that we started dating.

Who asked who out? Well, there was never any official "first date", but we had a DTR :) after spending some time together over Christmas break. Seth didn't really tell me he even liked me really. While he was trying to get around to it without being too vulnerable, I confessed my attraction and he opened up too.

How old were each of you when you met? I was 18, he was 19.

How old are each of you now? I am 23 and he is 24.

How long did you date before becoming engaged? \We date for 1 1/2 years before becoming engaged and then were engaged for 6 months before marrying.

How tall are each of you? I'm 5'9 and he is 5'10.

Whose siblings do you see the most? We see my sister the most of all, but Seth's sister is also close by.

Do you have any children together? Seth "Aidan"

What about pets? Nope

Did you go to the same school? Different high schools, same college!

Are you from the same hometown? No!  I grew up in Elm Springs, AR and Seth grew up in Bellingham, WA and Topeka, KS.

Who is the smartest? We are both smart in our own ways. I am really smart when it comes to memory and quick thinking games. Seth is more methodical, but he is really good at figuring out technical things, great with vocabulary, and has a proficient knowledge of many things.

Who is the most sensitive? Definitely me.

Where do you eat out most as a couple? Ummm... We don't eat out  much, but we like Pei Wei a lot.

Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple? We went to Ireland together on a choir tour after our sophomore year of college.

Who does the cooking? I do.

Who is more social? We are both social with different groups of people. Seth likes to have intellectual and theological conversations with friends, but hates small talk. I can talk to anyone really, but I am not as comfortable in huge groups of people I don't know well.

Who is the neat-freak? Me, definitely.

Who hogs the bed?
Seth. He moves all over the place when he sleeps.

Who wakes up earlier? On the weekdays I do, but Seth gets up with Aidan on the weekends and lets me sleep in.

Who has the bigger family? Mine.

How do you spend the holidays? With both families. We have had Thanksgiving with both our families together for about 3 years now. With both of them being close it has been easy to figure out holidays.

Who is more jealous? I don't really know.

Do you have little pet names for each other? Ummm...We use "Honey" a lot and "Babe" some too.

How long did it take to get serious? In what way?

Who eats more? I feel like I do, but I think we eat about the same.

Who sings better? Seth. I love to hear him sing.

Who’s older? Seth, by about 8 months.

Who does the dishes? Seth does them quite often if I have cooked a big meal.

Who snores? Well, Seth breathes quite heavily at times and crosses over into snoring when he is sick.

Who’s better with the computer? Seth, all the way.

Who drives? Seth. I just hate to drive.

Who kissed who first? We both kinda kissed each other first. It just happened without a whole lot of thought. It was very natural. We had been dating for a long time at that point and it wasn't awkward at all.

Who eats more sweets? Seth likes to eat a lot of candy. I am an ice cream girl all the way.
